Sunday, September 14th, 2008The residents of Byron Shire have given Jan Barham a massive vote of confidence in electing her for a second term as mayor.
When the counting of primary votes ended on Saturday night she had won in all the booths across the Shire for an overall total of 6,412 votes – a remarkable 50% of the formal votes counted.
Her closest rival, Cr Ross Tucker, who lost the 2004 mayoral election by a whisker, could manage only 28% – 3,559 votes.
