Heavy rain brings flash flood warning
A flash flood warning has been issued for the New South Wales Northern Rivers.
Heavy rain has fallen overnight, with some areas recording more than 200 millimetres. Scott Hanckel, from the State Emergency Service, is warning people to be extremely careful on the roads, not to drive through water, and to stay away from creeks and drains.
“A small amount of water got into half a dozen shops in the main street of Byron Bay this morning which coincided with the high tides down there that has receded as I understand it, but there’s lots of water on the roads at the moment in the Brunswick area, particularly in the Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach and in the upper reaches,” he said.
