Hang Gliding
Hang-glider man falls 40m … ouch …
A MAN who fell up to 40 metres from a hang-glider yesterday escaped with only minor head injuries. Police said the 32-year-old Bondi man had booked a tandem flight with a qualified and experienced 48-year-old instructor.
The flight took off from the Byron Bay Lighthouse launch ramp at Cosy Corner. The accident was reported around 1.30pm yesterday, just after take-off when the man became detached from the hangglider, falling into the vegetation below. Ambulance officers were called immediately and the man was carried out on a stretcher. Ambulance officers said the man was fully conscious, but had slight head injuries and was taken to Byron Bay District Hospital. He was later transferred to Tweed Heads Hospital for a CAT scan.
Be careful Hang Gliding in Byron bay.
