Grommet Busking Comp Bonanza – NEW IN 2012

For the first time, the Bluesfest Busking Comp will be including a Grommet Busking Comp where musicians under the age of 18 have an opportunity to reveal their abilities in their own exclusive category. The Grommet division will be set up in a similar fashion to the original Bluesfest Busking Comp offering heats in Byron Bay on a weekend prior to the Bluesfest with the finals to be held at the Beach Hotel prior to the adult finals. This is an exciting change to this year’s comp and is key to the expansion and development of the Bluesfest Busking Comp in the coming years.

Under 18′s Grommet heats 17th & 18th March @ YAC.

The heats for the Busking Comp are held prior to the commencement of the Bluesfest at The Beach Hotel, Byron Bayl. The finalists are then showcased on the Wednesday night, 4th April, before the official commencement of the Bluesfest with the winner being announced that evening.

The Bluesfest Busking Comp is all about providing an opportunity for unsigned artists to showcase their talent through the Bluesfest, which holds such strong acclamation on an international scale as Australia’s premiere Blues and Roots Festival.

It’s so simple to become a part of this competition that offers endless possibilities in the development of a musician’s career. The Bluesfest Busking Comp is held in and around Byron Bay in the weeks leading up to the Bluesfest. This exclusive competition is designed specifically to give unsigned artists the opportunity to showcase their music using the competition as a key stepping stone in their career development.

There are countless prizes available including a stage position at the Bluesfest for the winner. Finalists are also provided with the opportunity to perform at the Bluesfest Busking Comp tent positioned opposite the Merchandise tent within the festival showcasing a revolving range of raw talent for the festival goers to relax and enjoy.

Grommet Heats in Byron Bay @ The YAC: 17th – 185th March 2012
Finals @ Beach Hotel Bryon Bay: 4th April 2012
